Omega XL Lawsuit: what is Real, what is Hype& What To Do Now
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Omega XL lawsuit in 2026? See the real status, the FDA warning letter, reviews and complaints, and what to do if you were charged.

Quick answer:

In this Legal News update, I could not locate any current and approved class action lawsuits or court-sanctioned settlements as of October 2026. There was a class action filed in 2017 that resulted in the plaintiffs voluntarily dismissing the lawsuit in 2018. The FDA also issued a warning letter regarding this matter in 2021.

The phone rang. It was my uncle. “Wasn’t there some sort of huge lawsuit against Omega XL? I believe that I am entitled to some of that money.” An online article had informed him of a payout that was “ready to be claimed.” I am the designated internet researcher for our family; therefore, I spent a week searching through court documents and articles written in such a way as if they were all written by the same person.

The actual Omega XL lawsuit story was less dramatic than what the media reported, however, it was more helpful.

The Real Timeline

There is no single Omega XL lawsuit. Several separate events happened over the years.

YearEventOutcome
2017Boyer et al v. Great HealthWorks, Inc. (S.D. Cal.)Voluntarily dismissed, March 2018
2021FDA warning letter (June 23)Flagged disease-treatment claims
2026New class action or settlementNone confirmed

The 2017 case.

A consumer claimed no one informed her that she would be automatically enrolled in a monthly subscription upon making her first purchase, resulting in ongoing card charges. Truth in Advertising (TINA.org) reported that the plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit in

March 2018;

However, they did not state the reason for doing so. Additionally, the court did not certify a class, and none of the consumers involved in the lawsuit were compensated through a settlement.

The 2021 FDA Letter.

The FDA sent a warning letter to Great HealthWorks, Inc. regarding its marketing of Omega XL and Probiotic XL. The regulators stated that some of the wording on Great HealthWorks’ websites suggested that these products would be able to relieve joint pain and inflammation.

Other reports on other issues include an evaluation of the advertising industry, as well as an unrelated lawsuit regarding the availability of websites to people with disabilities. Please verify both through primary source material.

Don’t confuse things. Many of the other companies that produce fish oil have had class action lawsuits filed against them for either contamination of their products or the way they process the product. However, because Omega XL uses green-lipped mussel oil, these lawsuits do not apply.

Omega XL Lawsuit Update: Why “2026” Articles Feel Off

I am unable to find any information about the status of the Omega XL lawsuit. My search produced results indicating that “on going mediation” and “settlement negotiations” are currently taking place, but no cases numbers or courts were listed.

That’s how you can tell. Real litigation updates always list the case number (docket), where the case was filed (jurisdiction), and when the complaint was filed (filing date). I couldn’t find any court approved settlements, nor any official claims administrators. If there had been a new lawsuit, it would have been listed in PACER, the federal court’s record system, prior to being posted on a random blog.

Omega XL Reviews & Complaints

The reason this issue has continued to be brought up is that customer input generally falls into four categories:

Billing surprises: buyers didn’t realize they’d joined a subscription.

Cancellation and refund trouble: some struggled to stop shipments.

Missed expectations: some expected medication-level relief.

Happy users: many report less joint stiffness and reorder.

Complaints are not court decisions, but they indicate why people look to sue.

What the FDA Letter Means

Supplements can say they help with joints. They can’t say they can make you well from an illness. Imagine a sandwich truck that is licensed to sell food, and on the side of the truck there is a sign that says “cures the flu.” The sandwiches could be delicious, but the statement about curing the flu goes too far.

A Warning Letter is a regulatory action, and not a court decision. To my knowledge, there has been no court that found Great HealthWorks guilty of false advertising.

Can You Get a Payout?

There is currently no class action suit being brought forward against the company and there are no approved settlements, therefore; there will not be a claim form, a deadline for filing your claim, or a specific payout amount. Any site that states that each individual will receive between $50 and $100 per person is making assumptions. To put things into perspective, many times when a supplement settlement occurs, attorney’s fees account for approximately one fourth to one third of the overall fund.

Scam Warning: Never provide any personal or financial information to “sign up” for an Omega XL settlement. Official notices will be received through mail or electronic mail, from a court-appointed claims administrator.

What to Do Right Now

Collect the records: order emails, credit card statements, refund confirmation emails and advertising screenshots.

You may want to send a written cancellation request to your credit card company as well as contact your credit card company regarding disputing unauthorized charges.

File with the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Contact your state Attorney General’s consumer protection division.

Report to the Better Business Bureau to create a public record.

Consult with a consumer protection attorney when you have suffered substantial financial harm. Consumer protection statutes typically have a statute of limitations that is from 2-6 years based upon where you live.

Search PACER for “Great HealthWorks” to spot any new filing.

FAQs:

Q. Is there an active Omega XL class action in 2026?

No records were found in the public domain. The 2017 case has been dismissed and has not been refiled since then.

Q. Did Great HealthWorks lose a lawsuit?

No. The case ended by voluntary dismissal, so no court found the company liable.

Q. Can I complain without a class action?

Yes. File with the FTC, your state Attorney General, or the BBB.

The Key Taking:

  • I called my uncle again.
  • “Good news and boring news.
  • You didn’t lose any money from a payoff, as there is none.
  • ” He asked the most intelligent question of the week; “How can I prevent being billed for items that I do not desire?”
  • Read the checkout page, find where it says “subscription” or “auto-ship”, and write down the date when your trial will end.
  • A 2017 court case that was thrown out, a 2021 FDA warning, and conflicting reviews from other users are all reasons why there is a simple rule: make sure before you believe, and document before you have to.
